Release Date:2008-4-26 23:22:54 Source:Xinjiang Tourism Network

Qiankou ResidenceOn the way from Mt. Huangshan to downtown Huangshan city, Tunxi, there are a lot of old buildings, and this section of the road is called the long corridor of old buildings. Of these buildings, the Qian Kou Residence is a particularly remarkable one.

Located in the Huizhou District, Huangshan City, Anhui Province, the Qian Kou Residence has another name, Zixia Mountain Villa because it lies at the foot of Mt. Zixia, which is 60 kilometers (about 37 miles) away from Mt. Huangshan.

One architectural expert has said that to visit imperial palaces, you should go to Beijing; whereas to see old residences, you should go to Qian Kou. The Qian Kou Residence is an epitome of residences of the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644).

In 1980s, in order to protect the old residences, the government disassembled the ten most valuable old buildings of Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644) out of hundreds of old buildings from neighboring area and moved them to Qian Kou. The buildings were then reassembled in accordance with their original structures and appearances. Thus, the unique Qian Kou Residence was formed. These ten old buildings include three ancestral temples, four residences, one stone memorial arch, one arch bridge and one pavilion. The components of this architectural complex are situated in accordance with Mt. Zixia and show people the entire garden-style residence in a harmonious manner, although each of the components has a different background and history.
